The course is suitable for any person who has been carefully selected to ensure that they are capable of taking on the responsibilities of a first aider.

- On completion of training successful candidates should be able to:Understand the role of the first aiderManage and record an incidentUnderstand the importance of avoiding cross infectionDeal with the unconscious casualtyAdminister cardiopulmonary resuscitationTrain in the use of an AED Administer first aid to a casualty who is chokingAdminister first aid to a casualty who is wounded and bleedingAdminister first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock; Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries (including small cuts
- grazes and minor burns).
