Cable Avoidance and Service Location
Cable Avoidance and Service Location (CAT & Genny) training is designed for any person working on the roads, setting out before a build, surveying and any other person excavating an area where pipes or cables may be hidden underground
Competence training in the use of cable locators is widely recognised as one of the key steps to reducing cable strikes.
We can offer full day assessment cable avoidance courses combining training, written and practical assessment, or half Day Manufacturer specific courses. All courses include training on STATS Drawings
On completion of this course all delegates will receive a certificate of competence.

2. HSE Video – Alive or dead
3. Practical work – hands on locating using receiver, transmitter and accessories
4. Simple ways to locate street lighting cables
5. Location of bends
6. Location of junctions
7. Identification of utilities
8. Service connections
9. Locating through concrete reinforcing
10. Depth measurement (where applicable)
11. Using Sondes for non metallic pipes.
