PUWER 1998

PUWER 98

Training in the safe use and operation of abrasive wheels is a ½ day course and is suitable for supervisors and operators of abrasive wheel machines. No experience is necessary in order to join this course.

Abrasive wheel training is designed to meet the requirements of PUWER 98 and the Health and Safety Executive publication HSG 17 “Safety in the Use of Abrasive Wheels”

Training is conducted either on customers premises or at any of over 50 centres nationwide and is purely a classroom based course, not specific to any particular grinding or cutting machine. Some practical training will be conducted using the customers machines where practicable, or by using our own equipment.

Some Course Content:

1. The Need to Train and Statutory Requirements
2. Characteristics of an Abrasive Wheel and the Types of Abrasive Wheels
3. Marking of Abrasive Wheels and the British Standard Marking System Speed
4. Hazards and Precautions to be Taken
5. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
6. Storage and Handling of Abrasive Wheels
7. Inspection and Methods of Testing for Damage
8. Abrasive Wheel Machine Components
9. Guarding
10. Dressing & Truing
11. Specific Mounting Procedures

There is no test applicable and all delegates will receive a certificate of attendance and a comprehensive set of course notes. Delegates will also receive an individual training record for as proof of training.

Our most popular arrangement is a group booking held at client premises at a date and time to suit the client. Up to 15 persons can be trained at short notice anywhere in the UK for an all in price (including training materials, travelling and certification) of £550. To make your booking call us now!

Available nationwide at any of over 50 training centres, see below our open course availability. Alternatively, call 0844 335 8882 or book your own course online right here:
